another incredible Lonnie Liston Smith break

last time i discussed Lonnie Liston Smith's incredible breaks, it was regarding another track he did with The Cosmic Echoes, called "Devika (Goddess)" which was sampled by Digable Planets for the track "New York Is Red Hot" (see earlier posts for examples)..

this time, i will discuss a track he did called "Expansions" off the album of the same title.

the bassline/percussion from the beginning of this track is the very same that was sampled by Stetsasonic for the track "Talkin All That Jazz".

here's the original "Expansions":

here's Stetsasonic's "Talkin All That Jazz":

and just for a bonus, here's Dimitri From Paris' disco-house remix of Stetsasonic's song, also featuring the Lonnie Liston Smith "Expansions" sample (a note: this song/Playboy mix album by Dimitri is what really got me interested in House music):

this has been another episode of music history with ElijahtheWizard.

cheers!
