Wizard Radio setlist 4/19/09

This morning i was short on time and only grabbed a few records out of my own collection, so had to use mostly stuff from the station's collection, leading to one of my most "freeform" and strange sets yet. I liked a lot of it though, and actually was able to record it from home via my realplayer...

BUT I still don't have an mp3 for yall.. turns out Realplayer records on a specific fileformat (IVR) which currently is completely un-convertable... so until someone invents a software to convert this format, i have nothin to show yall... its such a pain in the ass.. but i'll have to figure somethin out eventually. anyhow heres the setlist regardless:

Barry White - "Let Me In & Let's Begin With Love" (love this joint)
Nouveaux Nation - "Party Time Lovers"
Prefuse 73 - "Dubs That Don't Match"
Smokey Robinson & The Miracles - "Betcha By Golly, Wow"
Dam-Funk - "Black"
Enon - "Hocus Pocus"
Little Junior Parker - "Next Time You See Me"
Miriam Makeba - "House Of The Rising Sun"
Pansy Division - "Alpine Skiing"
Lou Rawls - "Gee Baby, Aint I Good To You"
The Stylistics - "Pay Back Is A Dog"
Birdsongs of the Mesozoic - "Lost In The B-Zone"
The Sandpipers - "Louie, Louie"
Barry White - "Louie, Louie" (two very different, very cool versions)
Scout Niblett - "I'll Be A Prince (Shhh)"
Bobby Womack - "There's One Thing That Beats Failing"
Bill Withers - "Kissing My Love"
Gossip - "Don't Make Waves"
The Spellbinders - "We're Acting Like Lovers"
Bobby Blue Bland - "It's My Life Baby"
SemiAutomatic - "Wolfcentric"
The Miracles - "Gemini"
Sly & Robbie - "Woman For The Job" featuring Queen Latifah
Nobody - "White Folding Slowly"
The Magnolias - "Don't See That Girl"
The Young Gods - "La Fille De La Mort"
The Heavenly Five - "I Shall Not Be Moved"
Zlad - "I Am The Anti-Pope" (lol @ these two tracks back-to-back)
U Can Unlearn Guitar - "Porcelain Eyes"
Killdozer - "Space: 1999"
Little Milton - "The Cradle Is Robbin' Me"
Deerhoof - "Basket Ball Get Your Groove Back"
Heretix - "Season Of The Witch"
Katie Webster - "Red Negligee"
Leslie Hall - "Shazam I'm Glamorous"
Dam-Funk - "Purple"
Miriam Makeba - "One More Dance"
Faun Fables - "Dream On A Train"

seemed to be an unintentional theme of sexual innuendo today judging by the lyrics of songs by Katie Webster, Killdozer, and Pansy Division... unintentional i swear!!

still wish i had an mp3... :(
CHEERS!

Wizard Radio Setlist 4/5/09

hey yall.

welcome to my new blog. didn't want to litter the myspace blog every week with setlists, so thought i'd move them, and other musical ramblings over here.

The show was kind of frustrating today, because i just returned to K Starke's Records again on friday and bought a big stack of records i was really excited about, and then one of the turntables at the radio station was messed up and so half my records sounded like crap. I also wasn't paying close attention today, so my transitions were horrible. I'll just have to bring some of these records back next time when Studio A is back up and running so that i can do them justice.

anyhow here's today's setlist:

M83 - "Moon Child"
Ray Charles - "Rainy Night In Georgia" & "If You Wouldn't Be My Lady"
Miriam Makeba - "Ngalala Phantsi"
Grooove & The Gang - "In The Mood To Party (Crazy Jam)"
Black Moth Super Rainbow - "Raspberry Dawn"
The Temptations - "Papa Was A Rolling Stone"
Spiritualized - "Sad Days Lonely Nights"
Prince - "Purple People Paisley Punk Promo (white label "1999" House remix)"
Heavenly Five - "Lord Search My Heart"
Brenda Fassie - "Black President"
The James Gang - "Thanks" & "Ya Dig?"
Viola - "Little Girl (Put Cha Clothes Back On Dub)"
Grover Washington Jr. - "Georgia On My Mind"
Freeez - "Pop Goes My Love"
Little Junior Parker/Bobby Blue Bland - "Barefoot Rock"
Roger (Troutman) - "Heard It Through The Grapevine"
Tarentel - "Elephant Shoes"
Suga Bang Bang - "Don't Test/Wu Stallion"
Buddy Miles - "The Way I Feel Tonight"
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - "Lay & Love"
The Spellbinders - "For You"
Crystal Castles - "Crimewave (Crystal Castles vs Health)"
Isaac Hayes - "Something"

so yea.. woulda been a good set if it werent for turntable2 being faulty and ruining the sound of the Purple People Paisley Punk Promo record, as well as the Viola and Freeez ones... so i'll have to bring those again later. anyhow... stay tuned as usual.

sunday 3-6pm central. 88.3fm chicago. wzrdchicago.org worldwide via realplayer.

cheers!
